music, drama, strawberries & grapes.

Firstly, I’d like to start with the light in this venue. Huge glass walls surround it and it has the perfect view out of them into Bute Park, Cardiff.

Gwenllian and Ciaran were a couple who got in touch with me pretty close to their wedding day, unlike most couples it’s pretty much go, go, go as soon as they get engaged. I know it can sometimes be an overwhelming process but with my help we got there in the end.

Gwenllian and Ciaran had been best friends and had been together since primary school, so they are a proper childhood sweetheart couple. It definitely shows how in love they are with each other in their photos!

The vibes for their wedding day style turned out a little differently to what they first had in mind, inspiration wise. Pink and a little red had always been the colours they wanted to go for but like I say, sometimes less is more.

With a welcome sign at the entrance, designed by Gwenllian herself and an amazing red and pink flowery broken arch at the end of the isle, speaking for itself, perfectly done by Jenna from Bloom Street Florals. We thought that is all it needed for the ceremony.

The lush greenery of the park behind the glass walls, mirroring the greenery in the broken arch was enough of a statement. At the end of the day, a wedding is about the couple, and with a love as long and as strong as this one, why not let them be the stars of the show.

For the reception tables, one of my favourite ways to elevate styling lately is to add fruit! As this wedding was very pink, red and green, there was only one fruit I knew I wanted to play with when it came to styling the tables. Strawberries! The banquet tables had a run of bud vases, pink and red candles (with bows on of course) and little puddles of strawberries and grapes, piled upon a baby pink silk fabric.

I wanted to make sure the green of the greenery and the colours of Gwenllians bridesmaids were incorporated too, so we had fringy forest green napkins for each guest. Each guest also had a menu and a place name, again, designed by Gwenllian herself.

It was a bright sunny day, which flooded through the glass windows. Not only did it look so simple but so sophisticated, it looked fun, playful and the best part… It smelt like walking into a strawberry field.

Thank you so much for trusting me with the creative freedom you give me. If anyone else would like to give me creative freedom, I'd love to help!
